The main activity of Helios Faros d.d. is is the provision of accommodation services, ie tourism and other related activities that are in the function of performing the main activity. Helios Faros d.d. was founded in 2005 by the division of the company Hoteli Helios d.d. PBZ Croatia Osiguranje d.d. and Valamar Riviera d.d. have recognized the development potential of Helios Faros d.d. and through the partnership have created the foundations for the start of a new investment cycle worth over 110 million euros.

On August 16, 2019, Helios Faros d.d. and Valamar Riviera d.d. signed a Contract concerning the management of the hotel and tourist facilities by which Valamar provides Helios Faros with the services of accommodation management, sales, marketing, quality management, procurement, controlling and expert consulting in the technical sector, human resources and investment development.

On May 5, 2020, the company’s shares were listed on the regular market of the Zagreb Stock Exchange.

Helios Faros d.d. unites hotel and touristic facilities and business of several former predecessor companies with a tradition of continuous business in tourism and hospitality. It is the largest hotel complex on the island of Hvar on over 147.000 square meters, consisting of 2 hotels and a tourist resort.

Attractive location and spatial resources represent a significant comparative advantage over other competitors on the island and in the region. Helios Faros’ facilities, surrounded by pine forest and Stari Grad bay, provide an excellent base for family activities, active holidays, or relaxation by the sea in the sunny, Mediterranean atmosphere.

The company’s goals are constant development in all segments of business and placement of Stari Grad as a tourist destination in accordance with the highest environmental standards, which is the foundation of sustainable development of the local community in the future.

Reasons and objectives for stock exchange listing

Helios Faros d.d. shares were listed on the Regular Market of the Zagreb Stock Exchange on April 30th, 2020. The achieved benefits for shareholders and the Company are manifold. Shareholders have been given the opportunity to market value their assets transparently with a significant improvement in liquidity and reduction of transaction costs. 

In addition to the positive impact on the Company's image, Helios Faros also gained a new possibility of financing, i.e. raising new capital through the Stock Exchange. The listing also enabled significant direct investments in the Company by pension funds and Valamar Riviera d.d. (company’s two largest shareholders). The pension funds' entry into Helios Faros’s ownership structure has contributed to business growth and new significant investments in accommodation properties and innovative services.

Sustainability

Helios Faros d.d. pays special attention to the sustainable development of its facilities in new investments. The most significant capital investments in 2022 and 2023 related to the family complex Valamar Amicor Green Resort with a four-star rating, built according to the highest standards of green construction with minimal impact on the environment. 

100% recycling of new accommodation units is possible due to the use of prefabricated construction, which saves energy, speeds up the assembly process, creates controlled production conditions and enables easy dismantling of parts of the building that can later be reused. In addition, solar panels are used as a source of energy, while the use of paper and traffic is reduced to a minimum by using only electric vehicles.

Furthermore, single-use plastics are being phased out, and energy efficiency systems with almost zero energy consumption are being introduced, including "smart home" technology that allows measuring water and energy consumption and the CO2 footprint.
