"Challenge of change: New challenges" conference officially inaugurated
October 19, 2017, Rovinj, Croatia ‒ The sixth joint conference of the Zagreb Stock Exchange and investment fund industry entitled "Challenge of Change: New Challenges", gathering more than 20 speakers and over 450 participants from all branches of the financial industry, was inaugurated officially in Rovinj, Croatia.
The Conference represents a central event of the entire Croatian financial community, as well as that of the region, devoting great attention to global and European economic and market developments, viewing both capital market and funds’ asset management trends in Croatia from that same perspective.
Co-organizers of the Conference are the Zagreb Stock Exchange and the Association of Pension Funds and Pension Insurance Companies. The Association is a non-profit organization established with the aim to protect interests of mandatory and voluntary pension fund management companies as well as to improve their promotion, cooperation and partnership, and to raise the awareness among pension funds members.

On behalf of the organizers, the conference was inaugurated by Ivana Gazic, President of the Management Board of the Zagreb Stock Exchange, and Damir Grbavac, President of the Management Board of the Raiffeisen Mandatory and Voluntary Pension Funds Management Company expressing satisfaction that this year's conference is the most successful by the number of participants since Zagreb Stock Exchange Conference and the fund industry management conference has joined their forces in 2012.
In the last six years this unique event has grown by 30% in number of participants. Together with pension funds we are continuously expanding the range of topics that are of interest for all participants in the financial industry in Croatia and region as well, such as challenges of financing small and medium-sized enterprises, said Gazic.
We are especially pleased to see that the Conference has become recognized outside Croatia and that it gathers a large number of participants from the region, increasing every year. This year we will have many interesting topics and speakers that will address market from the global perspective especially considering market drivers such as inflation, global growth and geopolitical circumstances, along with sectoral views, new ways of investment and other topics important from the pension fund management perspective, concluded Damir Grbavac.
Introductory address was held by Marko Pavić, Minister of Labour and Pension System of the Republic of Croatia.
For the eight consecutive year now, daily business newspapers Poslovni dnevnik in cooperation with Zagreb Stock Exchange presented awards for the best investor relations, with the companies whose shares are constituents of the CROBEX index and those listed on the ZSE Official Market as eligible candidates; the award criteria include compliance by the issuers with the Exchange Rules and results of a survey conducted among capital market participants.

The award for the third ranking company Atlantic Grupa was presented to its Investor Relations Head Ivana Barać; with the Director of CEO, MB and SB Support Department Marina Bengez Sedmak receiving the award on behalf of the second-ranking Hrvatski Telekom while the top-ranking company award went to Valamar Riviera and was presented to Marko Čižmek , Member of the Management Board.
Among other distinguished speakers during the first day, the conference participants were addressed by Uto Baader, founder of the Baader Bank; Petar-Pierre Matek, President of the Croatian Financial Services Supervisory Agency, Governor of the Croatian National Bank Boris Vujčić, followed by sever lectures by prominent foreign experts and a panel discussions on financing SME’s.
